Outdoor Discoveries

What originally was a news section for the rest of the website soon became a place for me to write about human-powered wanderings in the countryside. Photography inspires me to get out there, mostly on foot these days, though cycling got me started. Musings on the wider context of outdoor activity complete the picture, so I hope that there is something of interest in all that you find here. Thank you for coming!

The Witch Way

2nd April 2007

Though it may sound like it, The Witch Way is not a walking route. Instead, it is a useful bus service run by Transdev Burnley and Pendle between Manchester and places like Burnley and Nelson in East Lancashire. the time taken is comparable with the equivalent rail alternative and there are no changes en route, unlike the rail option. Given the amount of good hill walking on offer just east of Burnley, it looks a good travel option for the future.
