Outdoor Discoveries

What originally was a news section for the rest of the website soon became a place for me to write about human-powered wanderings in the countryside. Photography inspires me to get out there, mostly on foot these days, though cycling got me started. Musings on the wider context of outdoor activity complete the picture, so I hope that there is something of interest in all that you find here. Thank you for coming!

A Yorkshire Dales Easter

11th April 2007

As mentioned below, my Easter weekend saw me head up Yorkshire way on the Saturday to continue my northward Pennine Way quest. On what was a sun drenched Sunday, I walked from Horton-in-Ribblesdale to Hawes while Monday saw me leave a foggy and damp Malham Tarn for a trot to Gargrave. My base for both excursions proved to be a hotel in Leeds (yes, I did push the boat out a bit but LateRooms.Com saved me some money too) while trains were instrumental in getting me to and from my walks with a little help from local bus services. I’ll add more on the walks themselves in due course.
