Outdoor Discoveries

What originally was a news section for the rest of the website soon became a place for me to write about human-powered wanderings in the countryside. Photography inspires me to get out there, mostly on foot these days, though cycling got me started. Musings on the wider context of outdoor activity complete the picture, so I hope that there is something of interest in all that you find here. Thank you for coming!

Fresh air at last!

17th December 2007

Since my post on walking hibernation, I have managed to get out and about in the dry chilly air that has joined us recently. Last Thursday saw me take a day off work to wander through some of hill country that lines the Cheshire-Derbyshire border. That has been followed by a sortie into the Shropshire Hills AONB to savour the delights of the Long Mynd near Church Stretton. More details should follow but I have ended a spell where explorations of hill country did not take up as much time as I might have liked. It remains to be seen how much festive walking might get done, though.
