Outdoor Discoveries

What originally was a news section for the rest of the website soon became a place for me to write about human-powered wanderings in the countryside. Photography inspires me to get out there, mostly on foot these days, though cycling got me started. Musings on the wider context of outdoor activity complete the picture, so I hope that there is something of interest in all that you find here. Thank you for coming!

New year, new name

5th January 2008

A name change can be risky and confusing business, especially when the one that is being replaced has been in existence for a while. However, there comes a time when something grows beyond its name. From the moniker HennessyBlog, it wasn’t clear that this was a blog musing over matters related to outdoor excursions; I have read enough on the business of blogging (The Blog Herald has supplied a lot of this) to realise that a descriptive name helps so here goes. Hopefully, Collected Musings of a Hill Wanderer addresses this and reflects the main reason that people visit without sounding too pompous. The last thing that I want to go doing is changing names as often as the now defunct British Leyland did. Have a great 2008.
