Outdoor Discoveries

What originally was a news section for the rest of the website soon became a place for me to write about human-powered wanderings in the countryside. Photography inspires me to get out there, mostly on foot these days, though cycling got me started. Musings on the wider context of outdoor activity complete the picture, so I hope that there is something of interest in all that you find here. Thank you for coming!

Two years on the trot

1st May 2008

It was after a bank holiday weekend two years ago that this blog came into being and a goodly amount of water has flowed under the proverbial bridge since then. Since this time last year, the name of the blog has changed but the walking trip reports remain centre stage. Long distance trail bashing has continued with both the West Highland Way and the Gritstone Trail having been completed. In addition, I have made a start on the Rob Roy Way and continue to nibble at both the Pennine Way and the Offa’s Dyke Path. Speaking of the latter, Shropshire has started to see my footfall as has Staffordshire. With the onset of what I consider to be the best month of the year, I am hoping that those walking experiences continue as I continue to explore the British landscape. Also remaining in my mind are thoughts of wandering through Irish hill country, something that has remained on my to do list for far longer than it has right to do.
