Here is another example of my seeing more than I expect on my circular walk near Zermatt. It was only when I looked at this photo at full scale that I realised that I had captured the terminus of the Gornergrat railway. The domed observatory building gave it away and the next task was to identify the bright white slab of rock looming behind it. That again surprised me for this is the Monte Rosa massif with Dufourspitze as its highest point on the Swiss side of the border with Italy. Usually, I am rather more confined in assessments of what I can see on hill and mountain walks so I have stepped beyond my usual comfort zone to consider that I actually have seen these things.
