Hardingland & Shutlingslow, Langley, Cheshire, England

Until you realise that there is a certain enthusiasm in some quarters for the preservation of industrial heritage, then starting a country park at a former quarry may not appeal to you if being out in the countryside is more your thing. However, Tegg's Nose Country Park mixes the formerly industrial with the scenic and here is a view that proves the latter. Hardingland is the homestead at the left and the bare wedge at the right is none other than the 506-metre-high top of Shutlingsloe. While some contend that it looks like the Alpine Matterhorn from some quarters, what you see here is its truer profile with the present day coniferous Macclesfield Forest surrounding it. The scene was captured during the 2013 Spring Bank Holiday weekend when I finally got out on a sunny Sunday evening after missing out on too much due to personal fatigue.
