In 2020, I started to have designs on an American escapade before the pandemic quashed the idea. It took until 2023 before the idea resurfaced again. After pondering Colorado, Oregon and Washington State in 2020, San Francisco in California came up as a surprising contender.

It was hiking parts of the Bay Area that really took my fancy. Places near the Golden Gate drew me, and it was not just the eponymous bridge either. Otherwise, Angel Island, Sausalito, Muir Woods, Port Reyes National Seashore, Stinson Beach, Mount Tamalpais State Park, the East Bat Parks all caught my attention to provide the photos that you find here.

Carl the Fog intruded too, adding to the making photos around San Francisco while also cooling the city. Temperatures were significantly higher around Marin County and the East Bay Area as I found on my forays into these places. Even so, that did little to take away from what was a most satisfying trip.
