Chalbermatten, Zermatt, Valais, Switzerland

While out on a walk, there are times when all that surrounds you is not apparent at the time and this one of those occasions. In this photo, you find Gornergrat and Mont Rosa to the right and the trio of Rimpfischorn, Strahlhorn and Adlerhorn resplendently coated in white at the heart of the view. It is tempting also to believe that the path from Zermatt up to this vantage clung to a steep mountainside all the way, and it was not so, though slopes were steeper around Chalbermatten, whose hut is present in the photo above Zmuttbach. The walk was a simple in a lot of ways, yet it revealed as much if not more than a train ride to the top of Gornergrat.
