Alpha Mountain, Squamish,<br />British Columbia, Canada

My being from Ireland means that I am used to the idea of 300 metres above sea level being a limit for tree cover because of the passage of storms from the Atlantic but does not apply when you talk about continental landmasses. This is an effect that I found in Switzerland and the trend continues in Canada. If you become accustomed to a certain tendency for forest clearance, then you get to expecting clear mountains wherever you look and that is not how it feels around much of British Columbia where tree cover can extend to mountain summits. In a way, all of that makes the above sight all the more special and it is a reminder of alpine memories too.
