Alnmouth, Northumberland, England

Alnmouth is somewhere that you'll see not that far away from if you travel along the East Coast Mainline. There are red-roofed houses to survey along with the expansive outlet of the Aln river. It almost begs a visit and I have been there twice now. The nearest train station may be about a mile or two away but that's fine if you are planning on walking and cycling. There are regular buses going the way too if you fancy an easier course.

Those glimpses from passing trains have been alluring ones for me. By virtue of necessity given that the tide was out, it wasn't possible to include the red-roofed houses that have drawn my eyes towards the place while passing on various journeys. As a result I have gone for a close-up view of a few multi-coloured specimens next to the village's church. The main street is pleasingly old world too, an outcome that must be a result of making the situation a coastal thoroughfare akin to the A1. That the latter has gone another way is but a saving grace that makes this spot worth seeking.
