If you are thinking of using Innsbruck as a base from which to explore alpine valleys, it has a spanner to place in the works: there are so many mountains nearby that it is a wrench to draw yourself away elsewhere. In hindsight, it might have been better for me not to have had designs on nearby Zillertal because there is so much around Innsbruck, and it might have saved me from seeing the other place under clouded skies with spells of rain of a very quiet Sunday. For that reason, you see only photos of Innsbruck's environs in the album.
Looking back on it now, Saturday proved to be the best day of my trip. Friday afternoon had been sweltering, and I met with rain on both Sunday and Monday. What you see above is an image from earlier in the day when it looked as if the Nordkette could be cloaked in mist for much of the day. Things did open up later though clag also revisited at times too. This sometimes has its uses as you can see from the above photo, because it adds a pleasing vignette of sorts that more makes up for any obscuring of detail.
