Some friends of mine cycled around the island of Arran and that put the idea of exploring the place into my head. Knowing what I know of the place now, it strikes me that cycling around there hardly is an insignificant feat, and it sounded as if my friends expected it to easier than it was! My first designs involved going up of a Friday and catching the last ferry from Ardrossan to Brodick and staying until Sunday. Looking back at the idea now, it seems a fair heave for a weekend away. Maybe it was small wonder that it never happened. Ironically, it was an alternative flying visit that took me there of an Easter weekend, the one in 2006, for the very first time. All the photos that you see here come from that outing though I did return in June 2010 for another helping. Sadly though, I got less in the way of sun for any photos though there was no rain, unlike what I braved to get to the top of Goatfell on that first trip.
