Castles of North Wales, Wales

Beaumaris Castle, Isle of Anglesey
Caernarfon Castle, Gwynedd
Harlech Castle, Gwynedd
Dolbadarn Castle, Llanberis, Gwynedd
Conwy Castle, Conwy
Remains of Castell Dinas Brân, Llangollen, Denbighsire, Wales

Snowdonia is perhaps best known for its countryside, but it has its own history too. In truth, I much prefer the Welsh name for the area, Eryri, but Norman remnants are never far away. That is because of the building of a number of castles to secure the area after the defeat of the princes of Gwynedd by King Edward. Harlech is one, but there are others and the Welsh had their strongholds too with Dolbadarn having been declared as one of them.

All of this talk about castles has made me wonder if there might be a photographic project in the offing. After, here are a few of the castles that caught my eye during my explorations of North West Wales and there are others. Maybe, broadening the scope to include castles from other parts of Wales might be in order too. Who knows what might come of this brainwave?
