Ashness Bridge, Grange, Cumbria, England

There are places in Britain that inspire a multitude of photographers. Scotland has Buachaille Etive Mor and Eilean Donan Castle and Cumbria has its spots too. Ashness Bridge is but one of them. In fact, there a number of photographers with their cameras sat atop tripods trying their hand at what lay before them, some with their partners. Being the month of October, the light in the middle of the day was more flattering than it might have been at the same time of a day in June, July or August. The enticing autumn colours added interest too, so I took myself up a slope before exposing some film to create the photo. A spot of careful composition does make it look as if I had it to myself when I didn't. What's this about camera not lying? The rest is authentic though and that's Skiddaw in the distant haze with Derwentwater peeping though too.
