Clough Head from Jenkin Hill, Keswick, Cumbria, England

Clough Head from Jenkin Hill, Keswick, Cumbria, England

This is another view from the way up from Keswick and Latrigg to Skiddaw that looks south towards the end of a range of hills that divides Thirlmere from Ullswater. Among their number, you will find Helvellyn but here is where the rocky mass peters out to leave a level pastoral valley through which the A66 runs between Penrith and Keswick. For ages, I had misidentified the craggy fell visible through the May heat haze, but it is now clear in my mind as Clough Head with Great Dodd rising up behind it. Anything has to be more specific than Matterdale Common and the whole misunderstanding shows how much more I have to learn when it comes to Cumbrian geography.
