It was near the end of a walk from Coniston to Ambleside when this sight greeted me as I made my way off Loughrigg Fell to go down to my destination for the day. As I did so, clouds took over the sky and the sun got obstruct, but that was immaterial after getting so much since the morning and I got to savouring the views like the above beforehand anyway. The trot Coniston had me following the Cumbria Way as far as Skelwith Bridge, having passed Tarn Hows along the way, before I negotiated my way onto Loughrigg Fell with a mixture of road and off-road walking.
Though I have been on the other hills in the photo, it took a little thought before I identified them as seen from this vantage point. Red Screes is the hill to the right and I pottered up to the top of that of a cloudy day one November before descending to Scandale Pass and onto High Sweden Bridge where I caught a short moment of sun before continuing back to Ambleside again. High Pike and Low Pike are to Red Screes' left and I went over them as part of a Fairfield horseshoe route that started from Rydal and crossed Heron Pike and Great Rigg on its outbound leg. These are parts that I have visited before and there is something to be said for revisiting them.
