Skiddaw as seen from Little Man, Keswick, Cumbria, England

After exploring the area since the spring of 2003, I finally ended up at the top of Skiddaw on the first Friday of May in 2007. From that, you can conclude that I don't believe in rushing things though there were abortive attempts from other starting points before then. Between scarily eroded paths and a spot of blundering along with needing to get home again that same day, all was unrequited until I settled for the bridleway approach via Latrigg. Some may decry it as less interesting than others, but I was more than content to make the ascent on more rounded slopes and I even took in the top of Latrigg on the return to Keswick. In fact, travelling on the top deck of an open-top bus to Penrith (to where it was going for the night after spending the day plying the way between Keswick and Borrowdale) was more disconcerting than my up and down escapade. To the left of the bulk of Skiddaw at the right, you can see those more intriguing approaches. It may be that I make some use of them yet, but I am happy to let that happen when it does.
