It was an ascent of St. Sunday Crag that granted me this view over Ullswater on a day that was slow at leaving the sun work its magic; another visit might be needed before I am completely satisfied with my efforts, but this will do for now. If the air was cool, one would have minded less about the sun staying in hiding but the hot humidity that was to pervade for the rest of the week was making its presence felt already. Some walkers had their shirts off while more of us were wetting our shirts well on ascending any steep slopes. Others shared the same sentiment, so it was not just me that was feeling the heat on gaining those first few hundred metres of height. The gradient later slackened to give some respite, but my trot to Grasmere was not to be without more steep ups and downs before I was done. The breezes that fell on me from time to time were pure bliss too.
