Yoke, Troutbeck, Cumbria, England

A thwarted scheme to savour Coniston's surroundings was what saw me heading to the top of Yoke from Windermere train station. The 1st of November is hardly the best of days for a delayed start but my out and back trek was completed before dusk turned to dark with glorious light shining on me for much of the time. That there were great big wads of cloud in the sky did nothing to take away from the satisfaction and the same could be said for the one rain shower that wet me near the summit of Yoke.

The top of the aforementioned fell is filling up the right of the photo with Caudale Moor and Thornthwaite Crag partly shaded by cloud in the background while the slight hill on the floor of Troutbeck Park called The Tongue is catching a share of the sunlight. The fells may have their winter clothes on display, but that has its own allure too, especially when you get the right light. Sometimes, plans unravel for the better.
