On the final approach to Kirk Yetholm, the Pennine Way shares its route with the more recently established St. Cuthbert's Way that goes from Melrose in the Scottish Borders to Lindisfarne in Northumberland, or vice versa if you so desire. Incidentally, it was when following the latter trail from Wooler to Kirk Yetholm that I capture the scene that you see here. Knees were grumbling and muscles were weary at this point just as they would be if I had been following the Pennine Way all the way from Byrness in Northumberland. Maybe I need to acclimatise my legs to such things more often.
