Malham Cove, North Yorkshire, England

Here's one of Malham's numerous attractions for the day tripper: Malham Cove. Once upon a time, it was a waterfall, but then the beck dived underground. What remains is a startling landscape feature whose fame has spread far and wide. The Pennine Way finds a route up by the Cove as it heads for Malham Tarn, Malham's other great attraction. You get to meet a lot of limestone underfoot and its greasiness when wet should prompt some care as you travel over it.
