Getting from Kinder Scout to the edge of Longdendale involves mile after mile of largely featureless moorland. True, there are landmarks like the Snake Road and the Wain Stones, but this is a part of the world where your navigation skills really do need to be up to scratch. While walking around there myself, I too needed to correct my course at one stage.
