Cenotaph, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England

Almost directly across Parliament Street from Betty's Café, you will find Harrogate's Cenotaph or War Memorial. This sombre structure was unveiled by the sixth Earl of Harewood in 1923 as a memorial to the dead in the First World War. For obvious reasons, it was re-dedicated after World War II. A remembrance ceremony takes place here every November as it does elsewhere around the United Kingdom. The tower of St. Peter's Church can be seen in the background.
