Ladybower Reservoir, Bamford, Derbyshire, England

Ladybower Reservoir gets a mention in a few other places in this album already, so this is a view of the place from during the summer. It is but one of the reservoirs in this now flooded valley, the others being Howden and Derwent. The landscape about here is pleasant and, though I visited it a few times already, there is still much more for me to explore. There is one fly in the ointment though and that is the loss of the villages of Derwent Woodlands and Ashopton when Ladybower was created in 1945. Incidentally, a church tower from one of these peeped above the waters when the level of the reservoir dropped. However, this was demolished to prevent people from getting stuck in the mud while going to get a closer look.
