Wolfscote Dale, Hartington, Derbyshire, England

Wolfscote Dale is one of those heavenly places where a sense of idyll can be imagined at the right time of day. The time of year is important and this scene comes from May 2012; at that time of year, the growing season only was nascent, so everything looks a bit tidier than it would look later in the year. Passing the way again in September of the same year showed me evidence in support of the latter sentiment because seemingly spent stalks were protruding everywhere. On a good day, it can be a busy spot, so you need to bide your time and a lunching stop does the deed as I was to discover later on the day when I captured this scene. There is one remaining question: does the River Dove remain as placid as this in all weathers? That does not seem feasible to me, but I can be surprised.
