Shutlingslow & Ridgegate Reservoir, Langley, Cheshire, England

Macclesfield town gets at least some of its water from a number of reservoirs nestling underneath Tegg's Nose and Shutlingsloe. Ridgegate Reservoir is but one of around four around here and there are three others that I can name: Trentabeck, Bottoms and Teggsnose. None of the other three are in view here but the sight of some of them on my first visit to Tegg's Nose Country Park, from which this scene was captured on a more recent visit of a Sunday evening during the 2013 Spring Bank Holiday weekend. That improved on my efforts during that first encounter, and it can take several attempts before you get something special; the proximity to Macclesfield has mean that I have been this more times than I care to remember. To the left, the wedge-shaped Shutlingsloe sits proud of the surrounding conifers making up present day Macclesfield Forest.
