Windgather Rocks, Kettleshulme, Cheshire, England

Given that this has been a prized photo of mine since I first captured the scene in it, it perhaps is inexplicable why it took nearly seven years for it to appear in my photo gallery. Maybe it was because of confusion on my par regarding the inclusion of the area in the Peak District National Park.

During December 2007, I took a midweek day of annual leave in an effort to thwart the relentless treadmill of life towards Christmas and the end of the year. A chance of a day of crisp frosty sunshine was sufficient to draw me up to the Cat and Fiddle, from where I set off for Whaley Bridge via Shining Tor, Cat’s Tor, Pym Chair, Windgather Rocks, Kettleshulme and Toddbrook Reservoir. The sun was lowering in the sky as I approached Windgather Rocks and the ensuing highlighting caught my attention. Above, I kept any enhancement muted though previous edits of the photo have not been so restrained. My memories may change, but this looks about right for now.
