Cranberry Rock, Stiperstones, Shropshire, England

There are so many rocky outcrops on the Stiperstones ridge that it can be difficult to identify them afterwards from photos and that consideration affects the captioning of this image that I am tempted to return for clarification. Others have been inspired to say that they fell from a demon's apron and the collection of shattered rock in the scene above might be in keeping with such tales, but geology explains things so very differently.

My stroll along the Stiperstones started and ended in solitude and encountered humanity in the middle. Not only did the weather draw out families, but this was a weekend during a school midterm break. Thus, exhibitions of youthful boisterousness and devil-may-care climbing were on show along with concerned parents. There was an amusing quality to all of this that cheered the spirit, so it became a mere interlude with no sense of intrusion at all.
