Skipton, North Yorkshire, England

In one sense, it is perhaps odd that Skipton is one of those well frequented places that lies just outside the boundaries of a national park; is it that you need to travel or two to get among quiet hills and dales? There is a good supply of straightforward accommodation and eateries that befits its being in Yorkshire. Public transport connections with Leeds and Bradford by bus and train are perhaps out of keeping with being in the county of North Yorkshire. Visitor attractions include a medieval castle and the historic Church of the Holy Trinity. The Leeds-Liverpool canal also passes here and here is a view along its banks with the tower of that aforementioned church in the background. Skipton is an undeniably pleasant spot best savoured on a spring or early summer evening. Sundays benefit from bell ringing filling the air and I almost can hear it in mind's ear right now...
