Grassington, North Yorkshire, England

Beyond Grassington, Wharfedale starts to become more and more wild in feel. The Dales Way leaps away from the banks of the Wharfe to take to the heights above Conistone before it drops back down to Kettlewell. Grassington is honeypot for visitors and a good base for exploring round about it too, but it is striking how things quieten down after that. What you see above is its rusticated Georgian village centre on a good summer day attracting humanity into the place. There is a Yorkshire National Park visitor centre if you are in need of a few ideas or even somewhere to stay.
