Búrfell, Þingvellir, Þingvellir National Park, Iceland

That craggy foreground is the American tectonic plate as it looms above its European neighbour. Beyond that is one of the numerous craggy hills and mountains that are to found hereabouts. Even though the photo comes from my July 2015 visit to these parts, snow still remains and such is the climate that I was left wondering why I had not brought a down jacket while in Landmannalaugar the next day. Given how hot other places get during the summer, that makes Iceland an option for walking with its cooler temperatures, not that they perturbed me while I was around Þingvellir. Maybe the pleasing sights offered some distraction along with the bright sunshine.
