Höfði House, Reykjavík, Iceland

Now in the ownership of the city of Reykjavík, Höfði House became a location for part of world history when it hosted a summit between Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev in the 1980's that became part of a process paving the way for the end of the Cold War. It was built as a French embassy and the British later had it until alleged spectral sightings made a British diplomat think that the place was haunted. That conclusion ensured the end of its diplomatic uses and, international summits aside, its history has been somewhat quieter since then.
