Menntaskólinn, Reykjavík, Iceland

It is not often that I end up photographing a secondary school, but this one does have a rather appealing sculpture in front of it and the evening light adds to proceedings. In fact, there were a lot of folk milling about this part of central Reykjavík and I wonder how many overseas visitors there that evening realised what was beside them.

AS it happened, I, for one, had not due to my spur-of-the-moment holiday planning that omitted the act of finding out more about my destination beforehand than I did. This is a common failing of mine, but it does bring benefits in avoiding a list mentality, not building hopes up too highly and going with an open mind that allows a spot of exploration. Missing sights as a result of this has not perturbed me at all given all the delights that I did get to savour while in Iceland.
