Nína Sæmundson’s Mermaid, Tjörnin, Reykjavík, Iceland

The lake near Reykjavík's centre is called either Reykjavíkurtjön or Tjörnin, and it appears in two photos in this album chosen from those taken on my visit in July 2015. The summer evening scene seen above is a tranquil one with Esja, Reykjavík's local mountain range looming in the background. Fríkirkjan is the green-roofed church behind the fountain while Nína Sæmundson’s Mermaid is in the very foreground. It complemented a day well spent seeing sights around the Golden Circle and my pottering around Reykjavík brought it all to a satisfactory end.
