This is a northward scene along Reykjavíkurtjörn, Reykjavík's lake, with the local mountain range Esja in the background and Harpa, Reykjavík's main concert hall and arts centre, skulking in the shadows. The green-roofed church is the Fríkirkjan, which becomes Free Church in English. The name comes from the fact that this Lutheran Christian denomination is detached from the Icelandic state, unlike the official Lutheran church. Otherwise, the two sects are very similar with little in the way of doctrinal disagreements, an unusual situation following many such splits.
