North Channel, River Lee, Cork, Éire

To some, a comment about complexity might be a strange accompaniment to the above photo. Nevertheless, when I was looking through some pictures during a long-awaited overhaul of this album, I realised that some appealing subjects featured in compositions that were so crowded out by undesirable background clutter that they did not make their way in this collection.

The image above has an added element of simplification in the form of the River Lee itself. The river itself divides in two not far upstream from the main campus of University College, Cork to make an island of Cork's city centre. Thus, there is the North Channel pictured here as well as the South Channel. Behind all the shoreside houses painted in pastel shades rise the bell tower of none other than St. Anne's Church in Shandon, itself the subject of a closer look elsewhere in the album.
