Clery's Department Store, O'Connell Street, Dublin, Éire

Clery

When I made this image, I had little idea that Clery's department store would cease to exist in a matter of years. The year then was 2007, and I still had a Canon EOS 10D DSLR for overseas travel but dust spots were appearing on the sensor and a Pentax K10D was acquired to replace it. After cleaning up the photo that you see above, it looks to me like a piece of old gold. These days, the building that housed what once was a Dublin institution is being redeveloped for retail and business purposes, so we should see a rejuvenation of the area if all goes well.
