River Liffey, Dublin, Éire

To my mind, the typical plan for a city is to have a river running through it. Numerous Irish towns and cities follow this template with Dublin being among them. This then is an eastbound shot along the River Liffey with the Four Courts on the left and the Irish Central Bank appearing in the distance.

The river itself rises in the Wicklow Mountains before flowing west into Co. Kildare where it turns northeast near Newbridge and finally east at Leixlip. Most of the river's length is in the county of Kildare the old name for the plain through its passes may be the origin of the river's name, though that is disputed. Anything named in antiquity often loses the sense of the naming.
