Church of the Immaculate Conception, Newcastle West, Co. Limerick, Éire

The Roman Catholic church in Newcastle West is a substantial building that I have found difficult to photograph to my satisfaction. That might have something to do with when I am in its vicinity in that the sun is not in the best place in the sky for my designs. Of course, the better way to look at this is turn things round: that I am not there when the sun is in the right place for good lighting of what I fancy capturing with my camera.

The building itself dates from 1828 and its construction was supervised by Fr. Thomas Coll P.P. The site was provided by the local landlord, the Earl of Devon, and parishioners provided voluntary labour for the building work. The results of those endeavours remains with us in good condition today and would look well in a photo if you got yourself there in time for the right light.
