Old IRA Monument, Newcastle West, Co. Limerick, Éire

Here is yet another reminder of the struggle for Irish independence that appears in this album. Of all of them, it also happens to be the one that I have passed the most often. Its position beside the main road between Limerick and Tralee or Killarney more or less guarantees that as much as its proximity to the town's Roman Catholic church. The monument itself was unveiled in 1955 and this scene dates from the summer of 2014 when I finally got the lighting for this photo.
