Looking towards Robert Byrne Park, Limerick, Éire

This photo was made on a November day in 2013 on a visit to my father during a turbulent year during which my mother passed away. The vantage point would have been Arthur's Quay Park from where you can look towards King John's Castle, which is on the right bank of the River Shannon. The picture features the left bank with the white railing surrounding Robert Byrne Park, a small if beguiling spot whose name commemorates a republican trade unionist who lost his life during the struggle for Irish independence.
