Port Erin, Isle of Man

Port Erin, Isle of Man

Port Erin's shore is lined by modern hotel blocks that look somewhat incongruous in its green surroundings. There is a feel of isolation here too with hills rising about the place, and it is from one such pastoral top that I captured the scene that you see here. The view takes the eye towards the north-east but the cleft at the left goes down to another part of the Manx coastline at Fleshwick Bay. Around here the coastal path dodges various inlets, and it can feel that progress is sluggish as I did on a walk from Port Erin to Peel in May 2010. It was then that descending to Fleshwick Bay from Bradda Hill irked me a little with its rapid height loss only for ascent to begin again on the way up to Lhiattee ny Beinnee. The roller coaster profile continued in a more subdued manner for the rest of that hike that saw me go up and over Cronk ny Arrey Laa and Corrins Hill too. Then, there were views of the more inland top of South Barrule and the same can be said for this photo from July 2011 (look for the knob at the right). Low cloud is obscuring others like Lhiattee ny Beinnee and Cronk ny Arrey Laa, but the view is not diminished by any of this.
