One of the things that amazed during my August 2016 trip to Norway is how the Norwegian flag can look not dissimilar to the British Union flag when it is wrapped in certain manners by the wind. The number of flags adorning Oslo's Grand Hotel reminds me of the illusion and gives the appearance of being a state building. It is not one of those though its near neighbours include Norway's parliament and national theatre together with an official residence of its royal family. Maybe that is why so many flags adorn the building.
