Opera House, Operagata, Oslo, Norway

In many ways, Oslo's shoreline resembles a large building site. It meant that framing this view of its Opera House took more effort on my part. There were cranes looming everywhere, so the least slip could have included one of them. Hopefully, this phase passes, and we regain more freedom for photographic composition. With the number of folk in the photo, it would have had a use in giving the scene more breathing space.

Apparently, the Opera House would not be compliant with European Union rules given where people are allowed to walk on top of the building. In spite of several referenda asking the electorate to decide to join the institution, Norway instead remains a member of the European Economic Area instead and pays well for the privilege.

Being able to go up on the Opera House is a delight that I too sampled, so I can see why so many do so. At least, the sloping ramps do not present any challenge of a dry sunny summer's evening. Others may be more interested in the events hosted in the building but going inside goes against the grain when it is glorious out of doors. That is how it often feels for me, and it did as much on that evening around Oslo in August 2016.
