The Royal Palace, or Slottet, has a lofty situation and this is the view down its front avenue towards Karl Johans Gate. The street itself has more than a royal palace at one end for it also passes the Norwegian parliament building and the city's Church of Norway cathedral. In fact, it is possible to glimpse the sea from the vantage point where the above photo was made, and the greenery provides a welcome oasis in Norway’s capital. It is not an unpretty place though and the limited extent of my explorations means that there is much more to see.
