My introductory sightings of the northern corries of Braeriach came of an evening when the weather was resplendent during April 2009. That was on Easter Monday of that year, when I gained a splendid introduction to Rothiemurchus and the hills that flank it, with nights spent in its SYHA youth hostel. The encounter set me up for numerous trips to the area since then, most being longer than that flying visit.
That is not the scene that you above, though, This photo comes from May 2024 on my return to Aviemore after a day spent exploring Gleann Eanaich. My horizons had shifted considerably since I enjoyed a first day when the whole visual mix was as pleasing as the ambience that memorable evening. Just on that earlier April, Scottish hilltops can be snow-streaked with everywhere looking brown at the start of in May just as this image shows.
