Coire Beag-ghlean, Cairngorms National Park, Scotland

The splendid sunshine of New Year's Day 2024 made it challenging to work out which images to include from the day, hardly a bad complaint to have from one spent rambling around Rothiemurchus. The hills that you in the above photo, Creagan Gorm to the right and Craiggowrie to the left, saw my footfall in incessant rain until I descended from the latter to Loch Morlich instead of continued as hoped to Aviemore. A reprise in better weather remains an enticing prospect only for other parts of the Cairngorms to deflect me from this; there is just so much to savour in this large wild and mountainous tract in the heart of Scotland.
