It does not take much to get above the tree line in Scotland; here, I was not at all far from Aviemore either. This viewing on an evening after coming north from Macclesfield would lead one to think the setting was further away from human settlement than it was. Thus, a fish supper either fuelled the upward activity or refuelled me afterwards; now, I am not sure which, not that it means that much anyway. After all, this was one of those times that was memorable for the right reasons, and we all need more of those.
Loch an Eilein is a spot of blue in the centre right of the photo, overpowered by all that surrounds it. On subsequent days, I was to pass the loch and its surroundings more than once. In hindsight, spending longer in the area would have been wise given the wonderful weather that arrived the next week. However, it helps to have ideas in your head for such a sojourn, am I am not sure that I had so much of those at the time. As it was, I had enough for an extended bank holiday weekend, which was what mattered at the time.
