Loch Morlich Shoreline, Cairngorms National Park, Scotland

This scenic loch is one that I have passed a few times. The first was en route between Glenmore and River Nethy in August 2009, the second was in March 2010 which crossed the aforementioned river to gain high ground on the way to Bynack More without reaching that summit and the third was when I went all the way to the top of the said mountain in May 2023. The photo that you see here comes from that second occasion and was captured between rain showers while on the return leg of my hike to the shores of Loch Morlich.

During the summer and other warmer times of the year, these sandy shores around Loch Morlich are frequented by many. As the tops of the surrounding hills should tell you, this image was not captured on a day when you would lay yourself out on these parts. It comes from March 2010, on a day when my recollection is more of cloudy skies than of sunshine. In some ways, I recall these as making use of sunshine at the end of the day before retiring to the Cairngorm Lodge Youth Hostel for the evening and night.
